Expressing disapproval of proceedings adopted by trial courts and high courts in cheating cases by which the accused are directed to deposit the alleged cheated amount in court for getting bail, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said the criminal proceedings cannot be converted into process of recovery and court cannot act as recovery agent.
